Winter knitting project...maybe

My friend Melissa said that she wanted to buy one of these puff ottomans but I told her that we should try to make them ourselves. Lo and behold, I found a knitting pattern for such a project at Pickles. I've been out of the knitting loop for many years but after finding this website with many free knit patterns, I'm thinking about getting back into it.
